Character Information
Name: Chris Redfield
Canon: Resident Evil

Age: early 40's
History: wikia page

Personality:

Chris is in many ways the epitome of a standard action hero. He's a military-focused personality who lives on strategy and teamwork with a bit of an idealistic mindset, trusting too easily in the people he works with and sometimes the system he's with because he believes in their potential good, not necessarily the realistic or cynical reality he's dealing with. He has a strong sense of duty and a somewhat basic mindset: Beat the bad guys, save the innocents. That is the purpose Chris lives by and that viewpoint, while charming, can be frustratingly simple when faced with a more complex situation.

One key point of Chris's character is his dedication. He's unfailingly loyal to his friends and fixated on his mission when he takes up a cause. On good days, this means he's hard to shake, always ready with a positive comment on how his team will manage to beat the odds and make it out alive together, because that's what they do. He can be friendly and even charming, looking out for newer recruits and building up morale when everyone else is discouraged by the grim dangers ahead of them. But optimism doesn't guarantee results, and when things don't pan out the way he believes they should Chris Redfield's stubborn streak can go from determination to bitter resentment. Chris has a history of running off on his own starting from the earliest stages of his career. He either left or was discharged from the Air Force because he disagreed with his superiors and has a habit of ignoring and defying orders if he thinks the greater good can be accomplished by taking a different route. That means adamantly hunting known antagonists on his own, undermining the authority of his presumed allies, and chasing vague potential leads to obscure locations in order to find lost teammates. Usually these have good intentions behind them, but often they involve questionable to outright reckless execution.

Despite his tactical training, he can be impulsive and emotional, especially when the world proves his idealistic views wrong. He's had a few incidents of lashing out at coworkers due to frustration over the loss of those close to him and an inability to fix problems that cost innocent lives, and at the start of Resident Evil 6 Chris is sulking alone in a bar, drinking away his life, and reacts violently when he's interrupted by an ally that just wants him to pull himself together and get back to work. He spends a good portion of his part of the game being cold and irritable toward the man, until he can finally get over the anger and inner turmoil that is caused by losing too many people to the job. He also has difficulty completely opening up to new people. While he's encouraging and helpful, he doesn't get very personal and isn't all that open about himself or his feelings, because as positive he wants to be, he still has emotional hangups.

Everything is energy with Chris. He's driven, sometimes to the point of aggression, and active. A man who acts much more than he talks, he has trouble sitting still and if there isn't a challenge right in front of him, he will likely find one. Protective and caring, he constantly seeks a cause to belong to and sets ambitious goals for himself that basically amount to ridding the world of evil and danger. As long as he has a mission to channel his energy into, he's steadfast and capable in the face of danger. He just also comes with obvious emotional weak spots which can make him contrary and difficult to deal with -- luckily he usually manages to keep himself busy.

Abilities & Skills:
police/military training - Chris is trained in combat and self-defense thanks to both police and military training. He has experience with both human and monstrous enemies, giving him an unusual level of skill even for a soldier. This includes hand-to-hand and armed combat, particularly knife fighting and close quarters combat.

firearms expert - He's familiar with a range of firearms, from standard issue hand guns to grenade launchers and mounted weaponry. His experience lets him be adaptive and work with new weapons on the fly. He's a solid marksman, able to stretch what his weapons should be capable of with his skill.

military vehicle training - Chris can pilot aircraft and drive military vehicles. He's got enough knowledge to handle combat in a moving vehicle as well.

strategist - When he isn't being overly emotional, he does have a good sense of tactics and can solve strategic problems at least enough to get him where he wants or needs to be. This means finding targets while dealing with hidden or misinformation, finding ways to escape surveillance, and recognizing and being prepared for enemies that may come from within his own groups. He can be caught off guard, but he's quick on his feet. He has survival training for various climates as part of his traveling experience as well.

Inventory/Companions:
combat knife
Beretta 93R with two spare magazines
tactical gear including a vest, gloves, boots, various leg guards, and a belt
a digital watch
a first aid kit
a sad two-way radio

Choice: Monster (Faun)
Reason: Chris is generally a simple and straightforward type, with a tendency to charge or kick through obstacles when they appear. He'd be fitting for something like a moose or elk type Faun with an instinct for charging things. It would also be interesting to play with the Faun's musical and sexual leaning, since those aren't big parts of Chris's life and he would have a challenge adjusting to them. Not to mention, changing in general is going to give him some hangups since he comes from a canon where transformation is always bad.
